Services.
INVESTIGATIONS.
• Sensitive • Confidential • Regulatory • Internal • Privileged • Time-sensitive • Strategic. •Within a time span of under 100 days and working through George Law Offices in 2012, we:
•With eventual input from 6 of Ontario's 14 LHINs (Local Health Integration Networks), which were the regions of the most dense program concentration and the most intensive program operations, our 230+ page report to the steering committee representing 24+ separate stakeholder agencies spread across the length and breadth of the province of Ontario, immediately secured more provincial funding for seniors, and as released in further funding tranches through the following several years. •Then, in Budget 2017, the federal government designated $4.2 billion federal dollars for home care and mental health in Ontario alone, to be disbursed over 10 years, as part of a total allocation for the same purposes across all Canadian provinces and territories of $11 billion over 10 years, which was central to the landmark Common Statement of Principles on Shared Health Priorities of August 2017, wherein Canada's federal, provincial, and territorial governments laid out specific goals and standards for home care, community care, palliative care, and mental health and addiction services. •This was thanks to our project work stressing the national priority to maintain critical seniors’ services despite macro fiscal challenges, in an aging population of retiring baby boomers and new immigrant seniors - all with their own fiscal challenges, and ever more senior bankruptcies and complex demands on caregivers and family members, that are major mental health stressors for all parties in the circle of care. •Further thereto, the 2019 federal budget brought Canada’s first National Dementia Strategy ($50 million over 5 years in Budget 2019 and $20 million over 5 years in the prior Budget 2018 ), as well as increased funding and efficiencies for the Old Age Security, Guaranteed Income Supplement/ Spousal Allowance programs ($1.76 billion over 4 years from 2020), and promoting automatic enrollment in the Canada Pension Plan for seniors who are over 70 years of age and yet to apply ($9.6 million), amongst other initiatives, and all so as to better ensure “a secure and dignified retirement for Canadians”. MEDIA EFFECTIVENESS, AUDIT, AND TRACKING. These services may also include: -Event planning, design, and management; - Surveys, contributed articles, and write-in contests; - Analysis and negotiation of priorities, ratios and results, interests, media messages, alternatives, regulations, and issues and disputes. •We have conceptualized, planned, marketed and managed numerous for-profit social and community events for up to 1,500 guests; designed promotional materials and utilized and optimizing multiple marketing channels in print, radio, telco., word of mouth, and incentive marketing. The medium is key! •Client or customer feedback is also crucial to business planning and program delivery. We can provide critical input in planning, designing, and coordinating campaigns and events to either solicit, retrieve and interpret this feedback, or act upon it to further the business or organizational goals; structuring target-specific and issue-centred surveys and questionnaires, and using social media responsibly. PUBLIC RELATIONS AND BRAND MANAGEMENT. These services may also include: - Product launch programs; - Conference and trade show support; - Internal communications and reputation advancement. •Reputation management is a critical priority. We can help ensure that the business or entity message is consistent across all platforms, whether in the process of a product launch or for internal or compliance purposes. REGULATORY AND GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS.
These services may also include: - Investor Relations; - Fairness Monitoring; - Government Relations; - Governance, Risk and Compliance / Environment, Social and Governance (GRC/ESG) advising; - Ethics communications and employee training. •We have consulted on privacy, strategy, and Cybersecurity in light of their indispensable relevance to corporate functions and governance; and we have drafted Bylaws and advised on governance for a 20,000+ member alumni association; advised on health privacy and cross-border contracting for a health services outsourcer with multiple offices; acted on a team of retained counsel advising the senate of a U.S. state; briefed a room full of 60+ program managers on the impact of several new and planned laws and regulatory developments on their work and programs; conducted regulatory compliance analyses on licensing applicant submissions within a leading national regulator with transnational scope and impact; and advised on public/municipal finance options and strategies in light of prevailing and projected needs, for several municipalities and independent agencies in the United States. •Similarly, investors can make or break a business venture, whether this is Angel Investors in a startup, institutional investors at an Initial Public Offering (IPO), shareholders voting on a slate of Directors, or the weight of a proxy vote for or against a sale, acquisition, or consolidation. •Disclosure rules have become significantly more stringent and multi-jurisdictional in nature, giving employees multiple and not always intersecting hoops through which to jump in order to stay on the right side of the law. Investors need to hear from management; management needs to communicate with employees; and, regulators would love to hear from all three of these groups, if ever and when ever, something is amiss. •We can assist with regulatory and government affairs; having a principal who has worked at or within all three levels of government (federal, state/provincial, and municipal) in both Canada and the United States of America - primarily at the highest levels, and who has also completed several years of In-house Counsel service in a Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) advising function for both a health-services outsourcer, and an energy and technology services consulting entity. Also being a published author on the intersection of environmental protection and national security, our principal is well-attuned to the risks of climate change, resource scarcity , and growing resource nationalism in an ever more sensitive and "socially-inter-connected" world. The COVID-19 Pandemic introduced a dimension of competition and nationalism (for vaccine reagents, personal protective equipment, and finished vaccines) amongst and between hitherto cooperating and even allied nations, that will cause ripples and reformulations in supply chain assurance and counterparty risk mitigation matrices for many years to come. Our overlapping GRC and Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) teams can help you plan to more wisely weather these many storms. |
ISSUES COUNSELING.
These services may also include: - Contingent coping, curative and compensatory measures, and capacity re-allocation and retention; - Litigation and alternate dispute resolution (ADR) management, and cost containment; - Crisis Communication planning and management. •Sometimes, the crisis is within one or more governments, as was the case with drastic drop in global oil prices of 2014-16, which had an especially unprecedented, and unexpected, and lasting impact on Canada, and western Canada (Alberta) in particular. The last major global oil crisis, in the 1970s, actually saw the oil price go up. •In December, 2014, our principal wrote a policy and strategy brief for Alberta’s provincial energy ministry on adjusting to that global falling oil price crisis, with a view to achieving interim operational stability and long-term profitability, and keeping systemic surge capacity pending resumption of a more favorable fiscal operating environment. •Working under a very tight deadline to address this fast-moving and multidimensional crisis, my selected key recommendations, included:
•Several of these recommendations have since been made a reality, by way of:
•When things otherwise go awry in the private sector, as they sometimes can through accident, inadvertence, or employee misdeeds, matters need to be handled professionally and in accordance with any regulatory standard or rule of disclosure that is or may be applicable. •Litigation and costs must be contained, insurers advised, internal investigations done, and contingent curative, coping, and compensatory measures activated; likely as already long-planned and held on standby as a precaution. We can also advise and counsel on this. MANAGEMENT AND STRATEGIC CONSULTING, AND SELECTIVE SOURCING. These services may also include: - Business Process Re-engineering; - Program Evaluation and Change Management; - International liaison, operations, and sourcing varied expertise and training (including computer and ICT/IS related skills-sets). •With real world business experience – in our principal and our roster of available professionals, earned in Canada, the United States, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa and the Middle East – we can deliver on multiple fronts and parameters. •We also have relationships with consultants wielding advanced scientific and Information and Communications Technology / Information Systems (ICT/IS) skills-sets, and we can selectively source and deploy them on behalf of clients on an as-needed basis, with sufficient notice. EFFECTIVE LEAD AND OPPORTUNITY MARKETING.
These services may also include: - Content marketing; - Opportunity mining; - Advocacy, and building coalitions. •With a background in the Social Sciences and significant experience in sales and marketing (door to door, word of mouth and referral, online, telemarketing, reputation, and in print, media, and social media), we know how to sell. •We are also keenly aware that knowing sales, alone, does not guarantee success unless you know far more about the selling environment (terrain), the selling business and its processes (operations), and the smorgasbord of willing, co-opted, contract, and standby participants in the sales cycle (players). Our statisticians and experts in policy, planning, and in conducting operations on and from leads deep within Big Data, are adept at advising on what to look for, how to interpret it, and how to use the results to leverage the most out of any and all latent competitive advantages and targeted analytics that are or may, be or become available. •In the hyper-competitive current dynamic environment with tightened budgets, cautious consumers, and the need for high-impact and high-yield strategies that leverage hidden or otherwise non-obvious opportunities into solid competitive advantage long before one’s competitors can react or even awake to the new status quo that "YOU" have introduced - while also not running afoul of developing norms of social media marketing and analytics conduct, we might just be able to help. A penny (or two), for your thoughts? We can help you build-up a few more of those on top of that initial solid foundation, with logic and discipline and rigorous attention to detail, thereby enabling: - your business to grow and prosper beyond initial expectations; or - your project(s) to be delivered on budget, on time, and on point. |
